“Charlie’s Will” by @susanmackieauthor
I NEED to start by saying such a large thank you to @susanmackieauthor for her kindness, generosity and fabulous mind for writing this book!
How immersed and connected I felt to the characters @susanmackieauthor has written in her first fiction novel! In the beginning, we are introduced to Rose who is grieving the loss of her close and loving grandfather, Charlie. Rose has returned to the family farm in the hopes of sorting out legalities, possessions and the running of the farm. Soon after her return, Rose finds that Charlie had made life changing alterations to his will without her knowing, renewing her path and expectations. A number of these new beginnings happen to include a tall, handsome vet called Angus Hamilton. Childhood romances, rekindled friendships, heartfelt connections to land and the importance of trusting the judgements of our elders, are only just a few ways to describe @susanmackieauthor’s great novel! I am very much looking forward to the second book in Susan’s series 📚 RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

Susan Mackie - Charlie’s Will
@susanmackieauthor
A book I felt immediate comfort with, a cover that screamed read me and an evocative title.
A rural fiction of outstanding caliber and one that has all the attributes that make this an awesome read.
I just had to read this and am thrilled now I have.
Rose returns to her family property to bury her grandfather and as last surviving heir to the estate has to decide its fate.
Her Grandfather’s Will has an unexpected twist which throws her into turmoil and she has to make the necessary adjustments.
The property with it continually flowing river is worth a mint and is why the domineering Feedlot company want the land so desperately.
Angus, local vet and confidante of Charlie the grandfather has the passion for farming and is an integral part of the ploy to keep it.
Her Grandfather planned for preservation of the farm and his Will was the last determined stance on keeping it in the family.
Although it antagonised Rose, made Angus feel uncomfortable and stirred up deviant and potentially threatening behaviour it was the only hope.
A story capturing pastoral succession dilemmas, social issues and a journey of self discovery enhanced by the rural setting and with very well developed characters.
I cannot wait for another dose from the Barrington series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5/5 stars
